How to Apply
To be considered for summer externships, teachers must:
1. Register with TeacherTech (click "Account: Teacher" at top right corner of this page or click on the link below to begin)

2. Complete the online application and submit the Principal Form, which must be completed by your school principal or appropriate district administrator.

Program Details
Eligibility requirements - Certified staff with contracts during the 2008-2009 school year will be eligible to apply for 2008 summer externship positions. For an application to be approved, the applicant's school district must be signed on as a School District Partner. To find out if your district is a partner, please contact 816.842.7082.
Length of externships - All externships are full-time (40 hours per week), eight-week positions.
Wages - All externship wages are paid by the employer, not TeacherTech. All externs receive the same rate of pay, which totals $6,400 for the eight-week externship (approximately $20 per hour). Teacher externs also are eligible to apply for a $600 classroom materials grant upon successful completion of their externship and favorable evaluation by their employer.

Placement and Hiring Process
All applications are reviewed by TeacherTech and are considered “pending” until approved by a TeacherTech administrator. Once approved, applications are made "active" and are available for participating employers to review. TeacherTech also may forward applications of qualified teachers to employers for specific positions. Please note: For an application to be approved, the applicant's school district must be signed on as a School District Partner. To find out if your district is a partner, please contact 816.842.7082.
Employers (not TeacherTech) contact applicants being considered for positions, conduct all interviews and make all hiring offers.
If an applicant accepts a position offered by an employer, the applicant will attend a TeacherTech orientation before the externship begins and complete an evaluation upon completion of the externship.
