Program Details

Eligibility requirements – To apply for student internships, students must be enrolled in a participating school district and entering grades 11 or 12 during the 2008-2009 school year.

Length of internships – The length of internships will vary by employer but typically last one week or more, depending on the nature of the assignment and the time of year. Internships can be full- or part-time.

Wages – Internships can be paid or unpaid. The employer, not LaunchPad, pays all internship wages.

How Your Students Apply

To be considered for internships, students must:

1. Register with LaunchPad (click New Students, Register on the student page or go here).

2. Complete the LaunchPad Internship Application Worksheet and an online application.

3. Download the Student Endorsement Form, which must completed by two teachers and/or counselors.

Once all application materials are received, applications will be reviewed for grammar, spelling and punctuation. Students will then be notified via e-mail when their applications have been approved. Upon approval, students can log in to their accounts to search for and apply for internship opportunities. LaunchPad also may forward applications of qualified students to employers for specific positions. Applications are currently being accepted.

Employers, not LaunchPad, will contact students being considered for positions, conduct all interviews and make all hiring offers. Important: Students should not contact employers directly.

Additionally, all LaunchPad participants must complete an evaluation upon completion of the internship.

Internship Process Details for Educators

Are you an educator interested in workplace exploration and internship opportunities for your students? This is how to get started:

Step 1: Register in LaunchPad
Go to www.uplinkthefuture.org/LaunchPad
Click on Educator Login/Registration (Note: If you have already registered as a teacher in TeacherTech skip the next step and login with the same information you registered in TeacherTech)
Enter e-mail and set-up password, click Register
Fill out info and click Submit
You will receive an e-mail notifying you that your application has been received.

Step 2: Download Advisor Form
Download Advisor Form and send it in. Once we receive your signed Advisor Form you will receive an e-mail telling you that you have been activated in UpLink and can apply for opportunities.

Step 3: Search for Opportunities and Apply for Internships
Go to www.uplinkthefuture.org/LaunchPad
Login
Click on Find Opportunities
Click on item that you are interested in and it will give details on that opportunity.
If wanting to save the info for later, click on Add to My List.
If wanting to apply now, click Apply Now.
Complete form, Review and Submit
You will receive an e-mail saying that your application was successfully completed.
If an employer is interested in your application they will contact you. Please do not contact the employer. You will receive an e-mail when this position has been filled.

Check the web site frequently to apply for new opportunities as they are posted.
